Element Holz
Der Zyklus der 5 Wandlungsphasen im Yin Yoga beginnt mit dem Element Holz, das der Jahreszeit Frühling zugeordnet ist. Dem Element Holz sind die Meridiane von Leber und Gallenblase zugeordnet.

Element Feuer
Auf das Element Holz folgt das Feuer, dem die Jahreszeit Sommer und der Lebensabschnitt der Jugend zugeordnet sind. Der Sommer steht für Lebensfreude, Energie und Erkenntnis. In dieser Zeit richten wir uns mehr nach außen als nach innen, verlieben uns und sind gerne aktiv. Dem Element Feuer sind die Meridiane von Herz und Dünndarm zugeordnet.

Element Erde
So wie das Feuer das Holz zu Erde verbrennt, so folgt auf Holz und Feuer das Element Erde. Die Wandlungsphase Erde befand sich früher in der Mitte des Zyklus. Sie ist dem Spätsommer zugeordnet, einer Zeit des Übergangs. Die Erde harmonisiert alle anderen Elemente, ist nährend, ruhig und dennoch steht sie für Verwandlung, für Neues, das aus dem Schoss von Mutter Erde hervorgeht. Dem Element Erde sind die Meridiane Milz/Pankreas und Magen zugeordnet.

Element Metall
Auf die Erde folgt das Metall, dem der Herbst und der Lebensabend zugeordnet ist. Diese Phase steht für den Rückzug, den Abschied, das Loslassen und die Konzentration auf das Wesentliche. Der Herbst ist in der TCM dem Element Metall zugeordnet, zu dem die Meridiane Lunge (Yin) und Dickdarm (Yang) gehören.

Element Wasser
Das Element des Wassers steht am Ende des Zyklus, aber es enthält gleichzeitig auch die Energie für den Neubeginn: Wasser nährt das Holz. Das Wasser ist dem Winter zugeordnet, der Zeit des Rückzugs und der Stille.
Dem Element Wasser sind die Meridiane von Niere (Yin) und Blase (Yang) zugeordnet.
